How to Start the Process
Getting Started with ABA Therapy
Understanding the Intake Process At Dream Light ABA, we are committed to guiding you every step of the way as you begin your child’s ABA therapy journey. It’s important to understand that obtaining ABA services is a structured, multi-step process that involves collaboration between your family, our clinical team, and your insurance provider. While timelines can vary slightly depending on individual circumstances, the full intake process generally takes 4 to 6 weeks from the time we receive your completed Request for Services Form along with all required documentation.
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure your child receives the care and support they deserve.
Submit the Request for Services Form
This form collects important information about your child and your family, including:
◦ Insurance details
◦ Diagnostic report (e.g., CDE)
◦ ABA referral
◦ Any additional medical or educational records
Insurance Verification
Our intake team will review all documentation and verify your insurance benefits. If anything is missing or clarification is needed, we will contact you promptly.
Authorization Request
Once documentation is complete and benefits are confirmed, we will submit a request to your insurance provider for an initial ABA assessment authorization. This step typically takes 1–2 weeks, depending on the insurer.
Initial ABA Assessment
Once authorization is approved, we will schedule an assessment with a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This includes direct observation of your child and an interview with caregivers to gather relevant information about behaviors, routines, and goals.
Development of the Individualized Behavior Plan (IBP)
After the assessment, the BCBA will develop a customized treatment plan based on your child’s unique needs. This process generally takes 1–2 weeks, including time for you to review and sign the plan.
Submit IBP for Final Insurance Approval
Once signed, the IBP is submitted to your insurance provider for final treatment authorization. Approval can take another 1–2 weeks.
Start ABA Therapy!
After receiving final approval, our team will coordinate with you to schedule therapy sessions and introduce your assigned RBT and supervising BCBA. Services will officially begin at this stage.
